Bonpland and the naturalists of the Río de la Plata
Abstract
The arrival of Bonpland to the Río de la Plata, his connection with the “enlightened clerics” of the region, especially with Dámaso Antonio Larrañaga and Teodoro Miguel Vilardebó, is studied. He developed multiple ventures especially linked to yerba mate, cotton, tea, and vast botanical research that has not been published.
