If the seed from which the immense oak was born could see it raising its strong branches to the sky in defiance of the storms, perhaps it would not understand how such greatness could be its work, and overwhelmed by such an idea, it would hide even deeper under the land.
Also men who for long years have obeyed his duty and noble sentiments tend to be unaware of the magnitude of his own work.
