Abstract

In early autumn 2023, the family of the deceased Juan Carlos Macedo delivered material from his former office in Migues, including twenty-four issues of the Revista del Colegio Médico del Uruguay, dating from 1943 to 1960. These copies, although in condition irregular, offer a valuable insight into the activity of one of the most important medical unions of the mid-20th century. Dr. Humberto Orcasberro, maternal uncle of Juan Carlos and founder of the Medical College, was the one who originally possessed this material. It is hoped that this set of journals, along with other existing copies in national libraries, will contribute to a more complete understanding of the history and legacy of this institution.
