The Convent and the Academy have a long common history centered on the teaching of surgery in the San Cosme Anatomy amphitheater. Today a national historical monument of France, it was built at the time of the fall of empiricism and the birth of scientific surgery. An achievement of the intellectual wealth of the Enlightenment that was reflected in the great figures of French surgery, who promoted the knowledge and teaching of anatomy and definitively separated barbers from surgeons. A brief chronicle of this institutional relationship is presented, which only in the 21st century manages to consolidate the common destiny for which they were created.
